Ephesians 5:18-19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

One of the signs of a Spirit-filled Child of God (and church) is singing. One small article in the bulletin is not sufficient to address the deep truths and undeniable importance of music in the life of a believer. Music holds HUGE significance in Scripture. I heard my father-in-law say many, many times that the second most important book to a Christian after his Bible is his songbook. I believe that. (by the way, our Bible is a songbook as well!)

Today, as Bro Armfield stands and asks us to turn in our songbooks to the chosen congregational song, we will be doing so with a brand-new songbook. These songbooks are the fruition of a Thanksgiving offering. I am excited to open these new books and lift up my voice to His glory. Let’s use these books as a tool to sing and make melody in our hearts to the Lord!
