Ecclesiastes 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
Today marks the end of almost 33 years of the faithful service of Pastor and Mrs. Edward Bragg to the Lord through Lafayette Bible Baptist Church. I remember moving with my parents into the parsonage on 929 Big Bend Rd in October of 1986. Wow, how things have changed! My dad was 29 years old, and I was 6 years old. Now, though at a different location and after many blessings, in terms of service at LBBC, he is at the end, and I am at the beginning. Over the past few weeks, I have heard from many members, pastors, and friends about what a blessing Pastor Edward Bragg has been to them.
Instead of viewing this time of ending with sorrow of heart and a with a tear in our eye, let us view it like our LORD views it: August 25th, 2019 is BETTER than October 12th, 1986. Take time today to remember the blessings that God has given us through our faithful former pastor. (Proverbs 28:20) Take time to express gratitude to God for the faithful service of our former pastor. (Philippians 1:3) Take time to be a blessing and an encouragement to a pastor who has faithfully given the past 33 years of service to the Lord through this church. (Hebrews 13:7) Take time continually to pray for Pastor and Mrs. Edward Bragg as they begin again after this blessed ending. (Romans 1:9)
