Luke 2:16-17 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger [17] And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere; go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born. Although we don’t know who the author of this old “Spiritual” Christmas song is, (this song dates back to at least the mid 19th century) that person must certainly have read (or heard) about the shepherds telling others about the birth of Jesus. The sentiment of this song is to tell to all the message of the birth of Jesus Christ.

What a tragedy it is that the joy and excitement of the true arrival of Jesus Christ our Savior has been replaced with joy and excitement about fictitious arrival of jolly old Saint Nick! This season, follow in the footsteps of the shepherd. Tell someone that Jesus Christ came to save sinners!
